The American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA)

CCG has professionals who are members of the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA)—the premier national organization for career retirement plan professionals. ASPPA was founded in 1966 originally as an actuarial organization. Since then, ASPPA has carefully tracked the changing needs of the retirement plan industry. As a result, ASPPA has expanded and diversified its membership to include all types of pension professionals. The membership is comprised of the many disciplines supporting retirement income management and benefits policy. Members are part of the diversified, technical, and highly regulated benefits industry. ASPPA represents the most committed individuals of the profession—those who have made a career of retirement plan and pension policy work. Based in the nation’s capital, the purpose of ASPPA is twofold:

  • To educate retirement plan and benefits professionals
  • To preserve and enhance the private pension system

In pursuit of these goals, ASPPA offers extensive educational opportunities for its members—from professional credentialing to continuing education. ASPPA Government Affairs department keeps a close watch on all legislative and regulatory activities affecting retirement benefits and pension policy.

The International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP)

CCG is a member of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP)—a nonprofit organization, dedicated to being a leading objective and independent global source of employee benefits, compensation and financial literacy education and information.

The Foundation delivers education, information and research to benefits and compensation professionals who have come to rely on it for objective, accurate, and timely information.

After 50 years, IFEBP is the largest association serving the employee benefits and compensation industry. It’s members include:

  • Trustees and administrators from multiemployer/Taft-Hartley trust funds
  • Benefits, compensation and HR directors from the private sector
  • Public employee plan managers, administrators and trustees
  • Service providers, including attorneys, actuaries, accountants and other consultants who work with benefit and compensation plans.

IFEBP is known and respected as an international knowledge leader in employee benefits, compensation and financial literacy, helping benefit leaders to ensure the future security of all beneficiaries. Through continually evolving education, research and information services, the Foundation enhances the capabilities of people and entities using, sponsoring, negotiating or delivering arrangements, products or services in these areas and is a leading source of information for the policy makers and governmental agencies that regulate those activities.

The Society of Professional Benefit Administrators (SPBA)

CCG is a member of the Society of Professional Benefit Administrators (SPBA)—the national association of Third Party Administration (TPA) firms who are contracted to administer employee benefit plans on an ongoing basis. SPBA members are firms, not individuals who are employed within a firm to handle employee benefits & human resources. SPBA’s membership is described as the “core” of the employee benefits TPA business. SPBA aims for its member firms to have an arm’s-length independent relationship with clients. SPBA was formed for the very narrow purpose of representing only TPAs. SPBA is a specialist society whose purpose to help TPAs, and is focused mainly on the nitty-gritty minutia of regulatory requirements and interpretations.

The SPBA membership is comprised of full-service TPA firms who offer a comprehensive array of services to several client plans/employers.

All association services and meetings are strictly limited to SPBA members and Stop-Loss Service Partners and those firms pre-determined to meet the eligibility criteria. While many TPAs are also active in other associations, SPBA is the only national association specifically for TPAs

Each year, SPBA shares information on about 1,000 new laws, regulations, rulings, interpretations, and major court cases.

The Self-Insurance Institute of America, Inc. (SIIA)

CCG is a member of the the Self-Insurance Institute of America, Inc. (SIIA)—a dynamic, member-based association dedicated to protecting and promoting the business interests of companies involved in the self-insurance/alternative risk transfer (ART) industry, both domestically and internationally. SIIA membership includes:

  • Self-Insured Entities
  • Captive Insurance Companies
  • Risk Retention Groups
  • Third Party Administrators
  • Excess/Stop-Loss/Reinsurance Carriers
  • Global Health Care Entities/Facilities
  • Industry Service Providers

Self-Insurance (also referred to as self-funding) is an alternative risk transfer strategy used by tens of thousands of employers across the country to finance their group health care and Workers’ Compensation liabilities. Self-Insurance has become an increasingly attractive option for many employers due to the rising costs associated with health care and Workers’ Compensation commercial insurance.
